Wheel wash systems for mines

SiteWash systems for road trucks, concentrate haulage and service vehicles leaving the mine, supplied under engineer-led project controls.

The requirement

What the site needs

Haul trucks stay on the pit circuit. What reaches the public road is road trucks, concentrate haulage and service traffic, and that is what a mine wheel wash has to clean.

At Eldorado Gold's Olympias mine in Greece, a SiteWash Flexi at the zinc concentrate loadout, delivered through Ausenco in 2025, recovers concentrate washed off the trucks and returns it to the process. Wheel washes have also been supplied to Boliden Tara Mines in Ireland, and to a copper and zinc mine in Peru at 4,200 m.

Engineering considerations

What we size for

Traffic profile
Road trucks, concentrate haulage and service vehicles, separated from the haul circuit.
Material loading
Concentrate recovered from the tank and returned to the process.
Remote operation
Systems supplied at altitude, with remote condition monitoring through SiteWash Record, in beta.
Project controls
Vendor documentation through the engineer's document control, and a full quality dossier.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a wheel wash recover concentrate?

Yes. At the Olympias mine loadout, concentrate washed off the trucks settles in the tank and is recovered and returned to the process.

Do you work under an engineer's document control?

Yes. Glanaco supplies general arrangement drawings, anchor and lifting details, method statements and risk assessments, control panel data and a full quality dossier.

Do you supply remote and high-altitude mines?

Yes, including a copper and zinc mine in Peru at 4,200 m.

What electrical supply do mine systems use?

480 V three phase 60 Hz with a UL 508A panel, or 400 V three phase 50 Hz, to suit the country.
